This is our Spicer design clutch kit that is available in two different types of materials according to customer's needs: S K Wellman's Extreme (Kevlar® & carbon fiber) or S K Wellman's Carbotic. This style of clutch disk has proven itself in the semi's for the past 20 years. This clutch disk is designed to absorb the vibrations of the diesel and gives the capability of hauling heavy loads without causing premature disk failure. The OEM Valeo disk has a tendency to throw the dampening springs as shown on the Ford Catalog page. This disk, with our modified Valeo pressure plate, bolts directly to the OEM solid flywheel and will handle up to 450 hp and 900 ft. lbs. of torque.

Choosing Materials

The combination of materials that have proven themselves over time is to combine the Kevlar® and carbotic to create a dual friction. We apply the Kevlar® material to the pressure plate side and the carbotic material to the flywheel side of the clutch disk. Of course, any of the materials can be used, it is your choice.

Our preferred part number is:

1939-DF for 400hp & 800 ft lbs of torque
1939-CB for 450hp & 900 ft lbs of torque

The clutch package can be supplied with the updated clutch fork and pivot.

99-03 Power Stroke - 1944-6OK - 350 hp, 750 ft lbs of torque
99-03 Power Stroke - 1944-6OFEK - 450 hp, 900 ft lbs of torque

Important

This clutch design will offer a very soft pedal. When truck is modified and under load the clutch pedal may stick to the floor.
 

Remedy

Remove the helper spring on the clutch pedal. By doing this, it will not only firm the clutch pedal up some, but resolve any clutch pedal inversion problems.
